I'm not a fan of regular Isopure; it has a strong aftertaste and way to sweet for a new postop. Hesitant to try the new PLUS Zero Carb, I did give in. And, one sip later I realized: THIS IS NOT YOUR OLD ISOPURE!
Some of my friends had plans to rely on the OLD versionof Isopure after their gastric bypass. But, due to the gastric sensitivities to taste and smell (everything is VERY strong, seems like even water was too sweet!) Isopure lovingly became referred to as "Isopuke". It caused quite a response after surgery. I'm not faulting Isopure for this response. You all know how sensitive our tummies are once the surgeon cuts more than 3/4 of it away, and applies rows of staples, concluding by the re-routing of intestines. Our bodies are quite confused... so I'm throwing out that disclaimer about US and our ALTERED BODIES. Isopure, if you're reading this, we're just not your normal everyday protein drink person. We've got some "issues" after such a radical medical procedure. And to the readers, the new Isopure has come a long way! Back to my review. I haven't tasted or touched an Isopure in 3 yrs! When I saw these tiny Isopure Plus bottles out on the market, my curiosity was piqued to say the least. The small 8 oz bottles are terrific, definitely gets an A+ in my book for convenience. They would definitely fit into a pocket book nicely. I opened it, and there was a hint of smell of vitamins and/or protein. It was there, but not enough to knock you down like some I've smelled! "Ok, Melinda... was it vitamins or protein that you smelled?" I don't know for sure. Could be a little of both!
I raised the bottle to my lips and took a small sip. It is not a strong overt flavor but more of a light hint of flavor type of drink. OK, so it didn't have my absolute approval from sip #1. I took about three good drinks and let it sit in my mouth for a prolonged moment just to test the aftertaste. It is present, but most folks aren't going to hold the liquid in their mouths for a few moments!
I like my drinks to have intense flavor, so I found 1/2 pack of Oceanspray Cran Pomegranate. I don't know, I just thought Alpine Punch and CranPomegranate sounded good. This drink is very palatable, and I would recommend it. This is a great on the go drink, but just remember that if you like INTENSE flavors, pack along a few of your favorite fruity Crystal Lite type of packets/sleeves. By the way, I finished the drink (which meant I liked it!)
Summary: It was quite tasty and enjoyable.
Stats? Let's look. Serving size: 8 oz. / Calories: 60 (can't beat that!) / Carbs: ZILCH / Sugar: ZILCH-O / Protein: 15 grams
Let's talk PRICE. Netrition sells a 6-pack for $11.99. That's roughly $2 each. Yes, I'd buy this product again as it is both tasty and affordable.
