Whether or not a girl is on a diet (or had gastric bypass), she needs her chocolate!  Asher's has a wonderful assortment of sugar free chocolates that taste just like the real thing!  (Disclaimer:  not a low calorie/low carb food!)  Thank Goodness for friends with protein, and other pantry filled sugar free goodies!  That's how I was introduced to Asher's a few years ago.

I've worked with the kind folks at Asher's Chocolates so that the RF blog audience can enjoy a discount.  I love deals...  I love good chocolate... I love Asher's!  Now we can have all 3! What a "sweet deal"!  If you order from their website and use the promo code "NOSUGAR", you will receive a 10% discount!  (By the way, I love that promo code... "NOSUGAR").   I love their gift wrapped box sets.  These also come in sugar free, a perfect gift for a special celebration in the life of a diabetic or weight loss surgery patient.

Let's Talk Shipping!

I wanted to post about the package I received today on my doorstep.  I've been anxiously waiting this because it was a chance to try a few new products.  I've tried a few Asher's Sugar Free Chocolate in the past few years, but my taste buds were all out of whack then.  I couldn't really enjoy much because in the early days (first year, or year and a half) after surgery, I think even water tasted sweet!  Tongue out

I wondered how my order would come.  I mean, after all, its the middle of summer and Tim & I both work.  My nephew is in and out throughout the day, and I wasn't sure if he would be home to receive the package from the UPS person.  I opened the front door around 4:15 and there in my glorious vision was the package.  I wanted to shout, "Hallelujah!"  I just love receiving presents from my UPS person.  I took the package into the house.  I must tell you that the sun shines directly on my front door.  I don't know how long it sat out there.  But I opened the package and was very suprised at what I found.  My worries and wonderment were over.

First, they were inside of a thick styrofoam box, surrounded by bubble wrap, and had some sort of an ice pack inside of plastic.  I was impressed!  Now, out of the sweet delights, there was only one piece of chocolate that was melted.  It was some sort of a coconut haystack which I immediately scooped out (I couldn't very well leave it in there!) and tasted.  It was soooo good.  I enjoyed it very much.  The products I ordered were the Sugar Free Milk Cordial Cherries and also the Sugar Free Milk & Dark Assortment (and there truly is a good variety inside this box).  Look at the melted chocolate here on the upper left corner, and a little sneak peek of the goodies inside.  The assorted comes with a small color brochure of the candies that are inside. (This is usually used as a gift box).  As always, my disclaimer:  sugar free does not equal calorie free, carb free or protein packed!  So plan accordingly.  Tim tried a peanut butter cup and liked it.  He wanted more, but I had to smack his hands!  Tisk, tisk.  Save some for another day.

Let's Talk Taste!

Do you enjoy the taste of a quality boxed chocolate?  How about sifting through the box, hearing the crinkle of the thin separating papers between each piece?  That is exactly what you will find inside these Asher's chocolate gift sets.   There is a wide variety in each box (which comes in either dark or milk chocolate).  They include:  peanut butter cups, cordial cherries, espresso truffles, and creamy butter toffee.  My favorite was the vanilla caramel!  Each piece is covered with fine quality, smooth chocolate that does not have a funny fake aftertaste like some sugar free candies!  One surprise was the rasberry jelly filled candy.  In the past, I have HATED these!  But, this was so fresh and delicious that it caused me to order a small bag of just the jellies.  I think you will find something for your desired tastes.

If you have a diabetic in your family, these would also make for wonderful gifts!
